Diamano Coura, founded in 1975 by Emmy Award winner Dr. Zakarya Diouf and Artistic Director, choreographer and coordinator Naomi Diouf, is a not-for profit cultural organization dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of traditional West African music, dance, theater, and folklore through professional workshops and performances. Diamano Coura is a company of 25 dancers, musicians, acrobat, stiltwalker, balafon palyer, artisan and folklorists. Diamano Coura in the Senegalese language Wolof means "those who bring the message". We motivate artists to maximize their potential and encourage youth to explore and express their cultural and ethnic heritage through our annual home season during Thanksgiving weekend and Collage des Cultures Africaines held the 2nd weekend in March each year. Diamano coura uses the inherent power of the arts to break barriers to open up corridors that encourage social and economic development, while fostering spiritual health and well being.
