Since 1999, the Studio Art Program mission has been:
•to continue sequential multi-year arts learning, fostering creativity and growth, confidence and skills, as well as problem-solving and critical thinking
•to integrate the Visual Arts Standards into classroom curricula in a developmentally appropriate manner.
•to sustain students’ curiosity and enthusiasm about making art and learning in general
•to promote cultural awareness and self-expression by exhibiting student artwork in local museums and venues
•to model the value of learning through Art

In the Studio, students engage in art as a way to integrate and better understand what they are learning in the classroom.

The hands-on art-making curriculum offers multiple entry points into the learning process allow for growth and authentic personal work from students of all abilities.

All students practice and acquire good studio habits, skills.  They develop fluency in a wide variety of artistic methods, techniques, and tools from many media. Students learn to consider different perspectives and engage in projects with perseverance and focus. Students learn to redefine expectations and outcomes, learn from mistakes and accidents and think critically and creatively.
