Opera Piccola is a multi-racial, cross-generational company of artists and educators dedicated to providing the benefits of the arts to people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Through community theater and educational services, we bring visual, performing, and literary arts into the everyday lives of thousands of bay area children, youths, families and adults.
Along with main-stage performances of original musical-theater works, Opera Piccola also travels with colorful sets and costumes to stage interactive performance events at libraries, homeless shelters, senior centers and other community venues where audience members of all ages can become part of the show.
Through our educational programs, Opera Piccola provides a full menu of in-school and after-school services, including arts integration and teacher development complying with California State Standards.
At a time when the arts are disappearing from our schools and our everyday lives, Opera Piccola strives to make the arts personal and available to everyone and especially to those with little if any access otherwise.
Opera Piccola is funded in part by grants from the Alameda County Art Commission, California Arts Council, Oakland Cultural Funding Program, Oakland Fund for Children and Youth, Clorox Foundation, East Bay Community Foundation, Thomas J. Long Foundation, SF Foundation, and Walter & Elise Haas Fund.
