I have been a practicing artist in a variety of mediums and roles most of my life. In my 20 years as a Montessori teacher/director, while teaching and encouraging artwork in my students I returned to creating art for myself. I was inspired to earn a masters degree in Arts & Consciousness at JFKU in Orinda, CA. Since then I have created and shown my work intermittently, while pursuing an Advanced Yoga Teacher training. In more recent years my work has been shown in three juried JFKU alumni exhibitions. I've had several one person shows at a local cafe. Earlier I showed my work in several East Bay Open Studios & in the Oakland Mayors office. Most recently I've been photographing yoga teachers. I work with my husband Paul Johnson through - Spirit Revealed Productions.
I am inspired by extraordinary moments in everyday life. I'm attracted to qualities: fragility and strength, intimacy and personality, movement, magic, playfulness, depth, mystery, light and dark, soul, heart, all arising in nature, land, water, sky, flowers, faces. We are surrounded with incredible, nurturing beauty, cycles of life & death. I'm fond of surreal, symbolic archetypes - psychological, emotional, spiritual, all powerfully revealed in everyday life. Light and shadow, texture and color in: trees, flowers, clouds, often shape themselves into a dance or yoga asana. Shadow and light uncover wise faces in canyon stone, or secret passages in a rusting pipe. In my own back yard, I'm blessed with prolific wildness that blooms continually forth.
