Biography
Rita N Taylor is a very artistic person. She has many
talents and hobbies which include sewing, crocheting,
knitting, playing the drums, photography, and creating
art. Those are all skills that she has but art, drum
playing and photography are her true passions. It is her
passion for playing the drums that keeps her playing,
her passion, love, and excitement for creating art
whether it’s drawing, sketching, painting, taking
pictures or just doodling that has held her captive for
life. Rita has been creating art and taking pictures
since childhood. Rita got her first camera for 6th grade
graduation and has been taking pictures ever since. Her
passion for art started off as a God given talent that
was looked at, at no more than a very enjoyable hobby.
Art has always been a great way for her to past time. At
an early age she developed her talent by reading books
on art, watching others, and simply doing it, as with
anything the more you practice the better you get. Rita
is a self taught artist as she was not exposed to art
classes until many years after attaining a BA Degree in
Business Administration. In 2004 she went back to
school, this time to focus on just art classes which
included a beginner photography class where she was
introduced to a new way of taking pictures, processing
film, and developing black and white photos. She was
hooked on photography and decided to combine the two,
art and photography for her business. She has always
wanted to use her passion as a way of life and starting
her own business Art-Tography was a big accomplishment.
Rita is a long-time Oakland resident. She has seen many
changes take place in Oakland over the years, some good
and some bad. The bowling alleys, movie theatres, and
arcades have been closed and all that were left were the
mean streets of Oakland for the youth to hang out on.
Rita hopes to help bring about a change for the better.
It is her desire that her paintings and photos will not
only hang in homes and businesses both near and far but
that through her art she will become financially able to
help the youth of Oakland by providing programs that
will help motivate and educate them, and provide them a
place to hang out that will replace the streets.

Artist:
Rita N Taylor, I am a self taught visual artist. Art in some form has been a part of my life since I can remember, while my passion for taking photographs came a little later but still at an early age. I get joy, pleasure, peace, excitement, and awe from seeing mother nature and the ideas I get from everyday life. It is my desire that those seeing my artwork will get some joy, comfort, and pleasure as I do. I express those inspirations and thought provoking work on canvas and with the use of a camera. I get my inspiration from everyday life, traveling, family, friends, and the Heavenly Father. I use oil paint, acrylics, and textiles to create many different themes using from bright and vibrant colors for an upbeat type of feeling to soothing themes and colors. My themes include Spiritual, black art, safari animals, and abstract concepts to name a few. My techniques include taking photographs and drawing from the photos, often combining 2 or more photos to get a compostion, or just seeing somethng that triggers a composition, as well as sewing to include different items that become part of the painting. Art comes in many different forms, I also create jewerly such as necklaces and matching earrings, anklets, and bracelets.
Location:
I reside in Oakland. I currently paint out of my home but look forward to having a creative arts and crafts, and photography studio.
